I have already posted the specific details in a life update thread on Twitter in March (P.S. follow me there if you want to see more of me, though I’ve not been as active there as I’ve once been, either), but to reiterate and clarify, no, I’m not dead, this blog hasn’t been abandoned, but life has left me barely any time or energy to work on any new posts.

But breaks can be beneficial, as many other creators would know, and this one made me consider what I want to do going forward with this Substack; what I want to write about and what can I bring to the table, sort to speak. More importantly, I want to be known more for my interests (fairy tales and animation) rather than politics, but that doesn’t mean I will self-censor my opinions or abandon my original end-goal: calling out the radical political enforcement on media and general public discourse. You’ll see what I mean in future posts.
In short, I want this Substack to be more fairy tale-centric, but I’ll still make posts related to topics that are more mainstream or of more general interest, like my one on the film Cuties. This will ensure some variety in my content and help me get a broader reach.
As I said in the above thread, I will most likely post something new in around June or July, but I hope I’ll do it sooner, as I really do have many ideas that I want to write about and which I think you’ll find interesting. I keep changing the main subject of my future posts (as my loyal followers on Twitter would already know), so some of the proposed articles below will probably be abandoned or substantially changed.
Regardless, here is what to expect in the near future:
a post announcing an upcoming project of mine, as well as explaining why I’ll be writing more fairy tale-centric pieces (the latter idea would be an expanded version of the first section from a previous post)
an analysis of “The Little Mermaid” fairy tale as a whole (will most likely be posted in conjunction with the 2023 Disney remake, which will be addressed)
an analysis of the “Puss in Boots” fairy tale, which will include my brief thoughts on Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and more specifically Dreamworks’s rendition of the character as a whole
an analysis of the “Little Red Riding Hood” fairy tale, which will simultaneously be a response to Magical Molly’s video documentary on the same subject
an analysis of the '“Beauty and the Beast” fairy tale, which will simultaneously address the various discourses surrounding it
a response to common fairy tale/Disney princess criticisms
a general overview of 2022 fairy tale adaptations and retellings
In addition, I will be making a “Fairy Tale Recommendations” post which will be an extension of a section in another post “Recommended Further Reading and Viewing” (which is in a serious need of an update and revision, by the way). I will also be revising (or really just completely rewriting) another post, “Classic Tales: Introduction”. You’ll see why pretty soon.
Until then, take care!
I'm down! Can't wait
